Robert had been forced to treat his younger sibling with more respect, and (with a slight sense of shame) Stannis hadn't hesitated to make his brother aware of his new position. Choice pastries and cuts of meat found his way to his door routinely, and although Stannis had long kept to a more disciplined fare of water, milk, hard cheeses, and bread, more than once the young boy had taken advantage of the treats. Once his Hogwarts letter had arrived, he had found himself in a rare spot as the apple of his parents' eyes, and before he left them, he had indulged as best he could. Still though, Stannis was lucky in some aspects. But here and now, he found himself at the lowest rung of the ladder, his classmates even being smallfolk from as far as Dorne and Skagos, nobility a distinct minority. Stannis was learning to be humble, working with smelly leathers and suffering his fair share of bruises, but it was work of a higher calling than the smallfolk that went around their isolated lives. Even when Stannis had started squiring, doing thankless work, there had been a sense of propriety around it. The Wizarding world already had their own hierarchy of superiors and inferiors, Stannis had judged, and the long history of the Baratheons, descendants of the Storm Kings of old, meant little to wizarding families who had absolute proof of their superiority. The Wizarding World had taken its measure of Westeros, and found them all, from the most infirm of smallfolk to the strongest of lords, equally worthless. The old talks of sword arms and armor to judge the strength of a House had died when Hogwarts came and unveiled its doors. As young as Stannis was, he considered himself no fool. Wizards and witches, by and large, were still largely a mystery to Westeros, and to allow any unveiling of weakness would make his already precarious standing even worse. Stannis Baratheon did his best not to flinch as the wandmaker named Ollivander peered into his eyes. I know that the main Hogwarts in Westeros idea takes place near Robert's Rebellion, but I couldn't resist this thought.
